If anyone dares tangle with a perfectionistic director like Martin Scorsese, it's Mick Jagger. And indeed, during this concert film that covered the Rolling Stones' 2006 concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City, the rock legend gave the Oscar winner something to sweat about: Not looping him into the song list, bemoaning the use of cameras. Those behind-the-scenes hijinks make an entertaining pre-performance prologue; the concert itself, which features performances with Christina Aguilera and Jack Black and a special appearance by the Clintons, relies less on their standby favorites and features songs never before performed live. Gimme Shelter may be better known as the greatest rock documentary ever made, but don't miss Shine a Light: a flattering portrayal of a great band by a great director. --Ellen.amazon.com
